Noutions Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Ava-Grace Willis Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Dave S. I have to say that there is nothing wrong with low budget films, so that was not my problem with it. My problem with it is that I felt like I was watching my next door neighbor's home movie. IMO everything about it just seemed like a guy wrote out a quick story, grabbed a camera, and started shooting. I understand how hard this must be to do effectively, but when I pay to rent a film, I expect to feel like I am watching some type of professionally made movie.John Schneider has a huge resume, is a great actor, and was fine in this film. The other people in it were not. I understand how it must be fun, and cheaper to use friends, and relatives as the cast, but it doesn't make for convincing acting. It seemed like the way it was shot, he was trying to give many of the scenes a more interesting look, but when the writing, plot, and acting are there to begin with, that type of style isn't necessary, and it is a distraction. Also on a technical level, it had digital artifacts all over the place. In the first scene of all of those fine cars, when they did a slow scan of them, they appeared to jerk back and forth just a little bit. The problem isn't in my viewing equipment, (Benq PE-8700 84" diagonal) but somewhere in the production. I've never seen that kind of artifact in a professionally made film before. Then there was the sound. It sounded like they didn't do any voice-overs, which may be o.k. unless it sounded like the track in this film. It sounded like the built in microphone on the camera.
paulandwendy-1 I am proud to say I purchased a Collier and Co package through John's website and so was one of the first to get the DVD (movie not shown in NZ)Throughly enjoyed the story, and the feel good tone of the movie, Loved the nods to Johns previous work and also the funny asides - like the scene at the restaurant with the bikes parked in the disabled car park - VERY FUNNY! We have a four year old who loves the Dukes of Hazzard and he happily sat through the DVD! For all of you who want a feel good movie, where the good guys win and and laughs are kind, this is for you! I strongly suggest the big shots of Hollywood need to take note - THIIS THE KIND OF ENTERTAINMENT PEOPLE WANT!!! Given what the Dukes of Hazzard movie turned out like (I turned it off - couldn't stand it!) perhaps John should have written it!
KBruse I have watched The Dukes of Hazzard for many years as a child. Now my kids are watching to. My husband and I met Don Gilley and John and they were the nicest people and very nice to my two daughters. They came to Amarillo Texas and showed the movie and we all loved it and enjoyed having John and his crew there. He is really a talented man and should be given the opportunity to sell and have this movie produced by Hollywood. The movie is a lot like the Dukes of Hazzard and he is just as good. He is a very talented actor is deserving of having a great family movie be shown in the movie theaters. This is an EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!!!!
Misty Goering This movie is a great reminder of what movies should be - what they used to be. There are a lot of aspects of the movie that reminded me of the Dukes of Hazzard, such as the fact that there is an orange Charger that John (J.R.) drives in the movie and it jumps over a car just like the good 'ole days. There is no violence (except for a few punches)... no sex scenes (except for a kiss)... Just great clean fun! And remember, if you like this movie, then tell others! Also tell your local theater so that they will support the movie and get it shown more than once at your theater!!! I was laughing throughout most of the movie. And I felt good when I left. I LOVE movies that make me feel good. Please go see it!
