Evengyny Thanks for the memories!
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
paulclaassen This was so typically American. Another cliched fantasy action with way too many obvious blue-screen shots, trying to make the action as fantastic as possible but failing in the process. Terribly unconvincing. The eye-candy made it worth the watch, nothing else...
dim404 This is utter rubbish, Greek mythology retold by Bollywood with a total lack of history or good taste. I think that the IQ of the viewers went down a notch or two after watching this travesti.
nlmike For a movie with this budget i was sorely disappointed, even with my mind switched off.The acting of the main characters was decent, which for John Hurt means he is just talking like usual. And as always it is a pleasure to hear him.First the good stuff, The action is nice and hard, 300 like. and the bad king is properly brutal. That part was enjoyable. Now for the bad part, Rubber armors that flop around (talk about an immersion breaker), a bunny helmet, punk helmets, ridiculous story, bad speeches, cliché one liners...I am sorry to have to say that for a movie in 2011 it is shameful..Don't waste time on this and watch our hero shine in man of steel.
one-nine-eighty This film gets a lot of comparisons to the likes of "300" and rightly so with the cast they had pulling the strings. Visually the film is strong, the cast is sexy, the CGI is tasteful and adds to the film rather than looking like a cheap add on. Despite the occasional continuity issue you wont be put off. When it comes to content though, that's a different matter. This film is the dumb (but sexy) blonde of films. While the casting was generally good there were a few moments where it seemed the actors where "hamming it up" a little, the big disappointment to the casting for me was Mickey Rourke, not because he isn't epic, purely for the accent and a the lazy style he brought - he could have been in any modern day 'down on your luck' New York based film rather than fighting Gods at the pantheon. In fact the comments on Rourke seem to be mirrored with other characters, I had no feelings for Carvill's Theseus character, and likewise other good characters you are supposed to root for don't draw you in as much as they should do. What you get with this film is a lot more style (appearance) over content - casing point, the mythology is wrong but there are a lot of sexy high definition slow motion shots of people being cut open. If we look more at content; having grown up reading a lot of mythology and Gods I appreciated the random twists in this film from what I am used to from literature (e.g. The Minotaur mask opposed to an actual Minotaur). What I didn't enjoy, and I've noticed other reviewers saying the same, is that the Greek mythology has been butchered a little bit too much in favour of making the film pretty. At this stage though I should stop and remember the mythology is mythology and therefore fiction and not fact, maybe like other reviewers I was a little hung up on what 'should' happen or be shown rather than suspending my disbelief and just watching what was happening. Like eating a fast food order, this film looks pretty and tastes pretty at first, but you know later that it won't be enough to sustain you and ultimately it's leave a hunger and a funny taste in your mouth. For this reason I can't award this film any more than 6 out of 10. My advise is just watch and don't question.
