Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
ThrillMessage There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
Maleeha Vincent It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
quintyvullers These are 2 hours of my life I will never get back
mary-179-677383 I can't believe I wasted a few hours watching this ridiculous movie. I can not get over how unbelievable the script and story of this movie. The scenes in which they have dinner in silence is so cringe worthy. After the silent dinner, she suddenly has a connection with him? And she goes to his house in the middle of the night. Does she not have any friends? And when we patiently wait for Lisa to unwrap her present from George, I almost fell asleep and then she says to George, "thanks for not rushing me". As if it was a big deal that Matty when he gave her a beautiful watch wanted to help her unwrap the present because she looked like she was struggling. Honestly. Lisa is the most unlikable character. She should have stayed for the therapy sessions and got herself sorted.Lisa is in a relationship with a guy named Matty who is committed to her, asks her to move in, has his life all together and is sweet, funny and supportive and then she chooses George guy who is being investigated and might be going to prison and lives in a dump. He has nothing together and he bought her play doh for her birthday. Yes it had a cool but fake sounding story.. which in all honestly, didn't really apply to her or her situation.. She falls in love with George who after only a few awkward encounters in which you see no chemistry and no interesting rapport. If you want to yell at your TV because she made poor decisions and because the movie is so lame, then sure watch it.
mitchellandsuzy Pros: Likable Paul Rudd; Cute Reese Witherspoon; likable Owen Wilson; Funny and likable Kathryn Hahn. THAT'S IT!! That's all that gives it a 2 stars instead of a 1 star reviewCons: Everything else. I kept hoping, hoping , hoping for... 1) chemistry to happen between ANY of the characters 2) any of the actors to say something clever, humorous, or even realistic to their character ( Owen Wilson made a few attempts ) - my standards are not that high, people... 3) an understanding of the "lesson" of this film, since the writer and director were definitely not going for romance, or comedy, right? 4) Jack Nicholson to come out of his coma. He was like a Jack Nicholson robot or something - blech! Revolting to watch him in any scene - and he seemed to be aware of it, too.I watched this on a 4 for 1 DVD I got at Target - advertised as "Date Night" movies, so other than the two hours I'll never get back and the slightly lower respect I feel for the actors, no big deal. I DO feel bad for the folks who paid to see it in the theatre or watched it with their significant other, hoping for some romantic mood or insight. So sad.
juneebuggy This was all over the place, back and forth, going nowhere and ultimately without an ending. I don't really know what this movie was trying to achieve. It did start out alright, different than I was expecting anyways, with a fun ensemble cast and a storyline that wasn't the usual rom-com crap. And while I'm not usually a fan of Reece Witherspoon I didn't mind her here, she looked beautiful and her storyline surrounding being cut from the National softball team because she was past her prime was at least interesting. I also enjoyed Owen Wilson in his playboy pitcher role, he had some funny lines. It was nice to see Jack Nicholson again too -where the hell has he been lately? As the movie progressed though it just seemed to stall out, with Reece sporting a perpetually confused expression as she evaluates her life, moving in with 'Matty' moving out again, then entering into a love triangle of sorts with 'George' a cooperate guy in turmoil who she has zero chemistry with, plus he's acting like a lunatic. There were also many scenes involving catching the bus, why was everyone on the bus? And then the movie just ends without resolving any of the story lines. The credits roll you go huh?? And then think to yourself, what a waste of time. 10/13/14
