Exoticalot People are voting emotionally.
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
vincentlynch-moonoi Yes, hope springs eternal that a chick flick with Colin Firth and Minnie Driver would be mildly entertaining. I was eating a bowl full of buttered noodles while watching this, and I'm not sure which -- the noodles or the film -- was more bland. It's only been the last decade that I've begun to appreciate British cinema. This film set that back a decade. But let's begin with what's good about this film. Well, let me think. Ah -- it's filmed in New England in autumn, so it's pretty. Frank Collison who runs the local motel with Mary Steenbergen is mildly humorous, but this is a step down for Steenbergen. And, let's see...well, that's about it.Colin Firth is a fine action...who was wasted here. I always enjoy Minnie Driver...well, almost always. Heather Graham...sorry, not impressed. Oliver Platt, who's usually a fairly entertaining actor, has a nothing role here. And then there's the plot. Oddly enough, I kept thinking that maybe Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr could have saved this. But then I decided that just dusting off my DVD of "An Affair To Remember" would be better than watching this affair to be forgotten.Thumbs down. You can do better.
eagleeyedcritic I'd give this movie a 6.5I thought it was a fun romantic comedy.I think Colin Firth does a good job as usual.I don't even care for Minnie or Heather however, I thought they both gave good performances.**spoiler alert** I didn't think there was any need to show Heather Graham chugging down a bunch of booze on their first date - seemed a bit off to say the least. I get that was the intent but was a bit excessive and off the character I thought.I liked it. It was silly but not overly so.
fatehsmann Okay, before I go on I must confess, the movie doesn't deserve a 7 star rating. Maximum I would have given it is a 6.5. But then I saw it's IMDb rating, and I thought hey, the movie isn't that bad. And I kind of wanted to raise it's rating a little bit.And it isn't. Yes, the plot isn't terribly original. Yes, the romance doesn't melt your heart. Yes, the comedy doesn't make you roll on the floor laughing. But it does make your smile. The little game that Heather Graham and Colin Firth play, beating about the bush is cute and the chemistry between them is pretty good. The plot is pretty predictable but Heather's portrayal of the vivacious and bubbly Mandy does liven it up. In the end, it's not a terrible waste of time. You won't regret having seen it.
funzel_gap This must be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I watched it till the end simply because I love Collin Firth. It doesn't make much sense to me and doesn't make me feel anything. I'm kind of disappointed at Collin Firth's choice of movie. The character Collin in the movie was too easy to fall in love, well if it could be called 'love'. He didn't seem to love his fiancé as much as he claimed. I didn't understand the trick he played on his ex-fiancé at all. I must say it is a very shallow, boring, and incoherent movie and it was a waste of time to watch even though there was Collin Firth in it. I gave it 2/10 just for the fact that Collin Firth is the main character in the movie. I definitely won't recommend it to anyone.
