Synopsis

Something sinister has come to the shores of Erin Island, unbeknownst to the quaint population of this sleepy fishing village resting somewhere off Ireland’s coast. First, some fishermen go missing. Then there is the rash of whale carcasses suddenly washing up on the beach. When the murders start, it’s up to two mismatched cops – an irresponsible alcoholic and his new partner, a by-the-book woman from the mainland – to protect the townsfolk from the giant, bloodsucking, tentacled aliens that prey upon them. Their only weapon, they discover, is booze. If they want to survive the creatures’ onslaught, everyone will have to get very, very drunk!

Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
Evengyny Thanks for the memories!
Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
the_doofy I will constantly be disappointed at how foreign movies will slaughter animals to make a movie, horses, dogs and even whales--VERY sad that this thing actually won awards ==Whales for Gods sake, disgusting movie --U don't have to go very far into the movie to see the close up of the beached carcass of the whale, there is nothing in the credits to nay say the slaughter --Guess it takes too much money to CGI or create a phony, easier to just slaughter one or more of these precious mammals
Charles Herold (cherold) When I read the description of Grabbers, I thought, oh, it's a comedy thriller like Tremors. I could have been wrong, and disappointed, but I wasn't, because that's exactly what this is. An Irish Tremors.Well, maybe not exactly. I recall Tremors as a comedic monster movie, but Grabbers is closer to a monster-themed comedy. The monsters are wonderfully done, but I'm not sure anything in the movie got my heart racing. It's mainly just this cute Irish comedy with a lot of drinking and a mild romance. So basically, if you like Irish comedies with quirky characters and a little romance, and you like freaky monsters that eat people, this is a movie you really should see.
Andy Howlett This was shown on the Horror Channel last night. An island off the coast of Ireland is invaded by blood-sucking aliens. There's only one way out - get hammered! The aliens cannot tolerate alcohol, so the locals (including the police) all get thoroughly langered, leading to some amusing comedy, although the rather indistinct dialogue made parts of the film a bit of a mystery. It's sort of bad, but strangely entertaining. Take a good dose of Alien, add some Gremlins and stir in Island of Terror and you'll understand. Despite this, my wife nodded off for the last 20 minutes and asked me what happened. I had some difficulty telling her as I too was drooping a bit....
RotaryCannon I watched this film last night and was very disappointed. It is pitched as a comedy/horror but there are almost no scary or funny parts in the whole film. The storyline is a well-trodden path for this type of low budget B- movie and will be familiar to anyone who has watched this type of film before: small community under attack from some nameless horror has to band together to defend themselves. Unfortunately this film brings nothing new to the table and pales in comparison to other films in this genre like Shaun of the Dead.If you think Irish people getting drunk is hilarious then you will love this movie but other than a few funny quips by the fisherman there are no big jokes or laugh-out-loud moments in the whole film. If the horror made up for the lack of comedy this would be okay but it doesn't, the monsters look okay but there are very few edge-of-the- seat moments or suspense to keep you interested.A horror/comedy can still be good if it's not scary but it is funny or it's not funny but it is scary but if it's neither then what's the point?
