Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
shubhamsrivastavalu This is a wonderful make full of twisting relationships and emotions. The times of struggle during the World War-II show disintegration of lives of people and institutions with little time for emotional bonds. Scarlett is a shrewd women made out of the miseries of difficult times. She does not mind playing with the emotions of people for making money. She does all for an affluent life but finds herself alone at the end in the midst of prosperity. Her love, Ashley never loved him nor did her husband. The misplaced emotions and quest for prosperity are well expressed but garnishing of finest acting and direction.
mrushkoski Considered one of the greatest love stories of all time, Gone with the Wind is a classic romance tale from 1939. A story of love and loss during the Civil War era the star crossed lovers Rhett Butler and Vivien Leigh, attempt to survive Atlanta as the Union Army approaches. It was originally released in black and white but was later rereleased in 1969 in color. It was well known for its iconic wardrobes and clothing, it had over 1,500 extras in huge scenes (with around1,000 dummies since there weren't enough extras at the time) and it actually had three directors during filming that its almost alarming that the film made it to editing let alone theaters. It even made one of the first historic slips through the Hays Code at the time, the iconic line "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" almost wasn't in the movie due to the word damn but after much convincing the director at the time was able to get the censors to allow it. Probably the only huge issue with the film was it's usage of racism from the Civil Way era, although historically accurate it was a little raunchy even for 1930's folks.
hreed-89565 This is hands down my favorite movie of all time. From its outstanding acting and directing to its ahead of its time cinematography and visual effects, Gone with the Wind is a truly amazing classic. It one a total of eight competitive Oscars at the time of the movie's release, and still, to this day, is the highest grossing movie of all time (considering inflation). I recommend this film to anyone who has not seen it. You won't be disappointed!!
tawhicks I watched this movie last night after not having seen it in many years. Even though I have seen this many times in the past, I was bowled over by the quality. From the beautiful cinematography to the rich characterizations and the wonderful acting, this movie is Hollywood at its finest. Scarlett "over-the-top" character is played wonderfully by the beautiful Vivian Leigh. What more can be said about Clark Gable's masterful performance? There is also a great supporting cast. Love it, love it, love it.
