HomeyTao For having a relatively low budget, the film's style and overall art direction are immensely impressive.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Portia Hilton Blistering performances.
Chantel Contreras It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.
ramsri007 This movie, by no means is an easy popcorn watch. Downey has given the most restrained yet powerful performance in this movie. There is hardly any dialog. Downey has given his usual trademarks a miss. The eyes behind the fur reach out to you searching your soul trying to make a connection. The chemistry between Downey & Nicole is electrifying. Every scene they are together, they bring out the quiet despair and love that speaks volumes about their internal desires and strong feelings for one another. There is ample use of symbolism and metaphors. The music & the set add to the experience. I feel 'Fur' is sort of reminiscent of 'The Beauty & The Beast' story. It is sure to leave a lump in your throat and manages to make the sensitive connect.
Wandar A biography told from the inside out. Instead of a fact-based story told through specific events, this movie attempts to put you inside the artist's mind. It is plain weird, but it works beautifully. It's a film of a curious woman who struggles to fit into society's expectations of ignorance and conformity. She is drawn to oddities and embraces the "freaks" of society. What's not to admire about someone who shows unbiased acceptance of others? It is a theme that is still very relevant today as society continues to shun members based on race, social class, sexual orientation, etc. If you are a typical automaton, this film might be too strange for you. On the other hand, if you've ever wondered what it would be like to lead an atypical life, if you ever found yourself curious about something different then here it is.
scancap As a photographer who knows something of the work of Diane Arbus I decided to watch this. I waited and waited and waited for there to be anything in it about Diane Arbus and her work as a photographer. It never happened.Instead we are treated to an imaginary story that is extremely unlikely even metaphorically. This is one of those situations where you find yourself just pleading for it all to end.It is called an "imaginary portrait of Diane Arbus" and I suppose that kind of excuses it. But really...
Lisa Muñoz This is not a proper biography, as the title hints, but simply a fragment of what the real Diane Arbus did when she worked as a photographer. Diane lives as her husband's assistant, who is a photographer, and after she notices that her pipes are being plugged up with hair, she questions her neighbor, who at first doesn't show his face because he has hypertrichosis. After meeting with this mysterious neighbor, named Lionel, several times, among them meeting several other "freaks", Diane develops a strong personal relationship with Lionel. After Diane agrees to shave his body, the two make love. This is one of the most powerful, artistic and tender makings of love seen in cinema. After she loses Lionel, who happily dives into the sea after months of being on a respirator, Diane grieves and moves on to her next project, once again forming a personal relationship with a woman at a nudist colony before she photographs her. This film made me blissfully happy. It's filled with such passion, inner beauty, love and also sadness. Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr have the best chemistry on screen and you can see they really match well together. I just don't understand why no one saw this film or liked it, it really is a magnificent film and I definitely recommend it.
