JoeB131 This looks like a Sci-Fi Channel movie at first glance, except it has just enough nudity and swearing not to be. The plot is that a medical examiner and a hot babe game warden investigate a mysterious death on the Bayou, and quickly find themselves besieged by giant snake-head fish from Asia that have been genetically engineered. The plot moves along pretty tightly and the actors are a lot of fun in their portrayals. The weakest part of the movie are the monsters themselves, which are done in extra-crappy CGI. Still an okay movie to watch and vastly better than the junk you'd normally see on Sci-Fi.There's a whole lot of illogic here, such as why would you hunt a 25 foot long monster fish in a skiff pushed by a propeller?
Ninochka I really cannot understand why people compare it with Tremors or Jaws. Even for B-movie lovers as me and my family, Frankenfish is a disaster. It's very slow moving, boring and illogical. The voodoo sorcerer could have been interesting, but after all she actually did not play any meaningful role in the movie, and the audience is not sure if she really could protect people from the Frankenfishes or it was just what she believed she was able to do. Why the fishes are "made (= bred) in China" is not clear, either. The mad gun-lover and the need to come to another house without touching the ground / water are taken from Tremors, but here all this looks very far-fetched. Even Carnosaur 3 was much, much better. The jumping man-eating fishes are quite OK, but I would like more fish and less talk.
Dman527 This movie was fun. I love killer fish movies. I have watched allot of them, from Jaws to Piranha 3D. The idea that something is in the water and it wants to kill you intrigues me. The film is about genetically enhanced Snakeheads who attack houseboats in a swamp in Louisiana, and its up to medical investigator Sam Rivers and the residents to kill these creatures before they become fish food. I loved this movie. Its actually better than the new film Piranha 3D in my opinion. Its a nice little creature feature. My favorite scene is when a guy kills one of the monsters and cuts out its heart and then puts it on a grill and eats it. I do have some complaints. Most of the film is dark and I couldn't see what was going on. I hated the boyfriend character, all he does is sit around, whine and complain, but I liked when he got drunk and said a bunch of random things. If you like films like Lake Placid, Anaconda and Jaws you will enjoy this film.
relious I for one thought this movie was awesome. It also reminded me of the Andaconda movies but only better. I loved the brutal violence in it. Those fish looked so scary that I had to watch with the light on. Frankenfish also made me think of jaws because like a shark those fish can be very aggressive. I think it also related to Deep Blue Sea because there was three sharks in that movie and three fish in this movie. This movie also reminded of Snakes On A Plane because of how they slither really fast and the fish in this movie were really fast. The humans would never stand a chance. I really liked this movie and recommend it to a lot of people. If you like Andaconda then see this!
