Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Matrixiole Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
Hayden Kane There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
welsch-37988 it's like watching a blank screen with scary noises in the back ground 70% of everything cannot be seen yet of course you have to have a skanky white girl wanting to have sex with her black boyfriend in the woods and a white guy as being a cuckold watching and when he stops them from getting it on the black guy makes it like it's a racial thing) do the movie makers think that Interracial porn of a white chick taking the all mighty BBC going to make more people watch the movie? white girls if your 1st and only priority is having a huge clock then shove a cucumber up your hu hut) sick of these stupid movies why doesn't the white girls have sex with big foot he probably is better in bed than any black guy and is more athletic and has a more powerful clock than the black guys. If big foot was real white women would be the 1st one to have there babies.
twhiteson Why are the characters in horror movies always so incredibly stupid? Is there a rule among horror movie makers that their characters must act like complete fools when faced with dangerous situations? "Exists" is a low-budget affair. Its cast and crew are all unknowns. It uses a lot of first-person "you are there" camera angles to hide its budget ala "The Blair Witch Project." Plus, it's a Sasquatch film which almost never attract big production bucks. There are two types of Sasquatch films: 1) the Big Hairy Guy is a big-hearted softie with a passion for ecology ("Harry and the Hendersons" and its ilk) or 2) he's menacing and scary. "Exists" is definitely in the latter category. The plot: a group of 20-something year old nitwits decide to head-out for a weekend at a backwoods cabin. As they near their destination, their vehicle strikes what they think is an animal. Despite finding blood and strange hair on the vehicle, they're unable to find a body. So, they proceed towards the cabin. However, it turns-out the local Bigfoot was not happy about the car accident. Our "heroes" find themselves isolated, besieged, and assaulted by the Big Hairy Guy. Will they survive? My biggest issue with "Exists" was the sheer stupidity of its characters. Every hoary old horror film cliché of stupid victims was used in this film for no other reason than to avoid its characters saving themselves. They're aware it's a life-and-death situation. So, what do they do about it? Well, they repeatedly split-up from each other. They take "short-cuts" through dense woods rather than follow a clear road. They cower and cringe when their friends are attacked and make no effort to help them. They don't arm themselves except for finding a convenient rifle whose ammo they quickly waste. (Were there no knives or axes in this backwoods cabin? Couldn't they sharpen some sticks? Or what about fire?) Essentially, these characters allow themselves to be hapless/helpless/hopeless movie victims for no other reason than lazy screen-writing and directing. The overwhelming stupidity of its characters made me overlook any other merits that may have existed in this film. It's the 21st century. So, you'd think by now that horror film makers would stop recycling "Halloween/Friday the 13th" clichés from the late 70's.
Jeffrey Burton First off, I jumped at least 3 TIMES while watching this movie. Three jumps gets it a solid rating right off the bat. And I feel I have to write this one to bump up the average of this good 'found footage' film. I know a bunch of the people connected with "Blair Witch' and I met Dan and (Director) Eduardo Sanchez at an Artisan event out in LA. Gregg Hale who was producer on this is a very talented guy. When BW was happening, George Romero was 'Artist in Residence' at Valencia Community College's Film Program. He was shooting a 'mockumentary' as they were called then, of a Big Foot being discovered and running amok in Central Florida, 'Jacoranda Joe'. I'm sure that's what inspired the Blair Witch guys to do the film that has created the FF craze and I'm guessing it inspired this film as well. This movie has a little more depth to the lead character and what ends up being a VERY convincing Sasquatch. A VERY, VERY, ticked off one, too. There's some depth to the story and some pathos, as well. I think it's high time to cut the Blair Witch crowd some slack and forgive them for having such monumental success on their first outing. This is a heck of a lot better than sparkly bottomed vampires and the now tedious zombie invasion. Definitely give it a watch!!!
Claudio Carvalho Dora (Dora Madison Burge), Matt (Samuel Davis), Todd (Roger Edwards), Brian (Chris Osborn), and Liz (Denise Williamson) travel to an isolated cabin in the woods. They hit something on the road before arriving in their destination. Soon they are hunted down by a Bigfoot. Will they survive to the creature?"Exists" is one of those teen horror movies where the viewer knows what will happen and only guesses who will be the next to die. The story does not have originality and abuses of the clichés associated to an awful camera. The only "originality" is the Bigfoot, instead of a maniac, or a vampire, or an evil spirit, or a monster or whatever. The rest is the same, with characters taking stupid decisions or actions to die, like Todd screaming and shooting in the woods to attract the Bigfoot. My vote is three.Title (Brazil): "Eles Existem" ("They Exist")
