Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Jenni Devyn Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
muvi-fan-73 I would directly get to the points I would like to discuss. Zach Galifianakis - this was the second instance I saw him on big screen. Before watching him here, I saw him in Hangover. For me, it was as if the actor is really like that. It took me watching, an interview of his that he was acting out everything. As the movie ran I enjoyed every instance, until Zach disclosed he had all stuff belonging to Robert. Even I wanted him to get punished. It was as if Zach has almighty's hand on his head that everything that was inflicted on him, more came onto the inflictor. I really wanted Robert to reach his wife delivery before time with cent percent wellness. If that would have happened the movie would have gained an extra point.
areatw I wasn't expecting much from 'Due Date', but I was pleasantly surprised. I laughed a lot more than I thought I would and the film as a whole is a lot more enjoyable than I'd anticipated. Director Todd Phillips was also behind 'The Hangover' movies and there are some clear similarities between the two, especially in the style of humour.Zach Galifianakis' character, Ethan, is very similar to The Hangover's Alan. I don't think anybody plays the stupid guy better than him, and he's on top form once again in 'Due Date'. There are some very funny individual scenes, but it never quite reaches the same level of humour as the first Hangover movie, which was relentlessly funny. 'Due Date' is still definitely worth seeing though, even if it's only for the hilarious Galifianakis.
ClayTC Due Date's greatest sin is that you hate the main characters. Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr) is a a hateful man who spits at dogs, hits children, and steals from helpless people. Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis) is a complete weirdo, actor wannabe who is neither likable nor charming. By the end of the movie, Peter does not like Ethan much more than when they first met; their 'friendship' seems more of a chore than a bond. In the film's worst sequence, Ethan, the weirdo who can't act, is thrown five feet into the air in the back of a pick up truck as Peter and his pal laugh in the cabin. The joke is that a bad thing is happening to a down-on-his-luck character that you generally feel sorry for. This is not good comedy.
ramsri007 I must be frank. This is the second time I am watching Due Date. The first time, I hated it. The 2nd time I found myself chuckling. Odd, I know but, I guess the movie sort of grows on you. The plot is reminiscent of 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' But this is a fresh take. This is probably one of Downey's most laid back performances. Zack & Downey do make for an odd pairing. But, both are witty & engaging none the less. The plot is uncomplicated. Downey Jr. as an uptight architect who likes order in life. However on his flight back home, he is offloaded due to a set of misunderstandings and is stuck with Zack. With no luggage, No money, out of options, Downey is forced to embark on a road trip with Zack, to head home. With a crazy character like Zack, troubles follow. Some parts of the movie especially the prison part is kind of hard to digest. But with a crazy, wacky person like Zack, I guess we can take it with a pinch of salt !
