ThiefHott Too much of everything
Wordiezett So much average
Console best movie i've ever seen.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Dave Munday I have to agree with the 'Awful...' review by Franklie but I think he/she was generous with a 2-star rating. Must admit I would enjoy watching Neve McIntosh reading a telephone directory aloud so for me she made both films easier to watch. Can only assume Martin Clunes insisted on some artistic control in the ensuing TV series.
Franklie The first Doc Martin prequel was pretty good, except for the repulsive sex scene, the squeamish bits, and the verbal litter. But the rest was great. We watched it just before we watched this one and this one was absolutely awful.Anna Chancellor's character made us want to turn the show off right from the beginning. The Doc showed no intelligence. It was a comedy of stupid errors rather than unfortunate ones. There was no one to root for in this show. Well, we take that back. Pam Ferris was her awesome self. It was fun to see her glammed up. We're also not a fans of the verbal litter. It usually just stinks things up.Loved the scenery though.
The_late_Buddy_Ryan Another outing for the original Doc Martin Bamford character, the Dr. Nice Guy of "Saving Grace" and a follow-up TV movie, not the sharper-edged Doc Martin Ellingham of the TV series. "Cloutie" makes good use of the Celtic Fringe folklore of Cornwall; the flimsy plot doesn't matter much—encouraged by the village wise woman (Pam Ferris), Doc Martin dabbles in the dark arts and sides with the goodhearted local smugglers against a pair of nasty customs agents. Reminiscent of Stephen Fry's "Kingdom," this one's pretty slight but thoroughly entertaining. Haven't seen "Saving Grace," but anything with "Doc Martin" in the title is decidedly worth watching. If you haven't seen the series (now mostly available on streaming NF and Amazon), I'd start with that.
darqness This film follows Saving Grace, and it does well as a prequel. It is the second prequel and it improves on its predecessor. It has the slightly bizarre Cornish lifestyle down to a tee. It flows perfectly, the comedy aspects of the film are thrown in at just the right times and the character responses are perfect. The acting is just brilliant, maybe not in terms of professional acting terms but their characters come off as completely believable. This is aided by great casting.I love the scenery in all three films and I'm in awe at the landscape. It is so beautiful, the only thing unbelievable about these films is the fact there is so little rain. What I love in a film is for the main character not to act like a main character and I believe that Martin Clunes fits in well with the less famous actors/actresses in this film. I can find little in this film to criticise and there is nothing wrong with the acting and casting.I love the fact that the smuggling storyline is slightly hidden from the audience. Balanced with the ridiculous acting from the customs agents it is perfectly portrayed. This also leads to one of the cheapest all-thrills chase ever in a movie. This film is without doubt one of the best films I have ever seen. 100%, 10/10, Smiley Face. A+
