Protraph Lack of good storyline.
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Ava-Grace Willis Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Leofwine_draca JOURNEY TO DINOSAUR ISLAND is a tiny-budgeted kid's adventure movie from Australia. The script is pedestrian and the story nothing more than a mish mash of previous genre staples and the like; the main thing is to get a couple of kids and have them interacting with various kinds of dinosaur, all of which have a uniform green/blue look. The CGI effects aren't quite as terrible as I had feared - they're better than in your average Asylum movie, for example - but they're still pretty poor, although not as poor as the terrible acting from the child leads.
Hitchslapped Most adults won't particularly enjoy this movie I guess. I'm 25 and I watched this late at night when I didn't want to be bothered with anything mind bending. I think it's fair to say that anyone who is looking for a movie to watch with his kids this is a good movie to go for. The animation was pretty well made for a B-movie, although it looked out of place from time to time (meaning that you could obviously see that the dinosaur wasn't really standing in that scene). The acting was mediocre but far from bad and no child will be bothered by this. I rated this from my sleepy point of view or a children's point of view as a 7.
gafmonger I'm reading a lot of reviews claiming that this is the "worst film ever". It's not. There are easily two or three worse films. The problem for this film is that it sells itself as a serious piece of dinosaur-themed sci-fi, as if going head-to-head with the JP franchise is something easily achieved. Unfortunately, we're now judging it against a tough set of criteria, and this film was never going to pull it off.In short, the acting is poor, the story is dull and the daft sci-fi approach doesn't gel with the scientific approach. The CGI isn't utterly terrible, but they overstretch themselves. There has been some effort to update dinosaur and pterosaur portrayals, but overall, they're flippin' awful. The 'azhdarchid', or whatever it is, is unbelievably bad. Seriously. See if it's on Youtube so that you don't have to sit through the whole thing. The tyrannosaur stands around yelling at everything, and only when everything is already half a mile away does it give chase.Your kids might like it, but just make sure you're not stuck watching it with them.
rangawhitearm I found Dinosaur Island to be a very good movie. I liked the way that they used the premise of crystals for the time travel part of the story. The way that The myths of the Bermuda triangle was integrated with the idea of an island outside of time seemed to be a very cool idea. Especially since they included dinosaurs. I must admit that I actually enjoyed the way that the dinosaurs looked. It was an interesting take on how they looked and as we truly don't know how most dinosaurs actually looked it was good to see something different from the usual take. I thought that the two lead actors actually done a decent job. I found that the characters were well developed and that you actually cared about what happens to them. The scenery of the movie was absolutely beautiful and the emotions where well placed with the score. The pacing of the movie in my mind was well done and even though I am an adult I truly enjoyed this movie. The way that the movie ended was also a nice touch. I stumbled upon this movie in the children's section at the shops and bought it on a whim, and I am glad I did. Personally I think that this is a movie that the whole family can enjoy. I only wished that I could have seen this on the big screen. This is the kind of movie that proves that you don't need a massive budget to make a descent film. I hope Australia can make more of these types of movies as their definitely is a market for them. If you expect a Jurassic Park style movie then you'll probably be disappointed, however if you want a movie that isn't violent and isn't packed with vulgarity then like me you might just love this movie.
