AutCuddly Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
Vomitron_G As mentioned countless times already, "Devil's Den" really can be considered to be a "From Dusk Till Dawn" knock-off... But that doesn't mean it can't be fun, right? And indeed, I had as much fun with this one as I had with watching "The Hazing" (2004) the week before. Both can be considered good fun horror party flicks. No vampires in this den, actually, but ghouls instead. No big twist halfway through the movie, but ghoul action from the get-go. No elaborate plot whatsoever, but still a few nice character twists. And Ken"Beyond the Dawn of the Texas Sleepstalking Dentist-Reject"Foree is in it. And for the teenage ladies, there's Devon Sawa (but I must say the dude seems to have gained some weight since "Final Destination"). And guys, I don't need to tell you that there's indeed some pleasant femalish eye-candy in this one, right? Yes, this movie will very likely not go very far into horror history, but it's still a certified fun B-movie watch. The same kind of fun I recently had with "Bloodsuckers" (AKA "Vampire Wars"), now that we're talking vampires and ghouls.
Angelus2 Do not expect anything that will test your intelligence, or have you on the edge of your seat with your jaw ready to hit the ground. Devil's Den tells the story of a guy who ends up in a strip club....Where the female performers are demons, with a thirst for flesh. I watched this movie for a fun time. But, instead I got a dull plot, with a unconvincing cast with terrible dialogue. I am not a hater of low budget movies, or independent movies, but I felt this story needed a much bigger budget, the action scenes weren't as great as they could have been and the 'One-Liners' were out of place, ridiculing the whole thing. The occasional banter between characters was painful to watch, often going off the main storyline. Not the best low budget horror movie around.
goofyball I know what it takes to make a low budget horror film... you need one location and lots of talking... but do not create a story that requires more. This thing is so boring. Sounds great but trust me... it's not.It all takes place in one location... a strip club... a bad set on top of that... with some sort of bad hardy boys cave attached to it. They stand around having fights trying to make it look bigger than it is... but they failed. If you see it... this is what you are in for... talk talk talk about stuff that has nothing to do with the plot (spanish fly, assassins) then ghoulish vampire chicks attack... then talk talk talk about nothing important for 15 minutes then the same thing happens with a fight... then talk then same fight...it's like a 20 minute movie repeated over and over again. My friend and I (who adore bad movies) both nearly fell asleep... the worst dialogue moment is when Hu and Sawa have a long drawn out discussion of what an assassin does and who an assassin kills... they just stop the movie to have this talk. they obviously choose this because it's filler but oh my God so boring. The best part I guess is the make-up. Not bad for such a cheesy bad low budget flick...Actors are zipping through this... but they had nothing to work with. Oh it must have been painful to shoot this thing for them knowing they were on much bigger and better productions a few years earlier.
danthewrestlingmanorigin So much of the negative reviews I've seen on this film, come from the fact that it borrows quite liberally from Robert Rodriquez's From Dusk Till Dawn. You have the strip club in the middle of nowhere, the only difference is it substitutes Demonic Succubi chicks, for Vampires. One of my main reasons for recommending this film is Ken Foree of Dawn Of The Dead fame, who gives a fun performance, with plenty of screen time. Also if you like Idle Hands, Devon Sawa is basically playing that again here. At first I wasn't so sure i'd like his character, but he becomes endearing as the film roles on. Rounding out the cast Kelly Hu, also makes for a likable heroine. The Cast has excellent chemistry, and although unlikely, I'd love to see a sequel, which it was left open for. If you like the premise of Devil's Den, you won't be disappointed. Plenty of action, humor, gore, and a little T and A, makes for good times. It isn't anything new, but as far as rip offs go, it's well above average.
