Synopsis

A group of Mexican emigrants attempts to cross the Mexican-US border. What begins as a hopeful journey becomes a harrowing, bloody and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante and his loyal Belgian Malinois dog chase the group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous borderland. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer.

vesa-47062 So here we have a citizen defending his border from illegal aliens made out to be the bad guy. The whole movie is backwards. Also anyone that fires a flare directly into a dog's mouth causing it to burn to death deserves to die a brutal death in the next scene. Very angry about this movie.
kosmasp If you keep yourself distanced from others, you do not recognize those others as human beings. As fellow persons, who deserve your respect. This was done and thought of way before someone claimed he wanted to build a wall, that would solve the "problem" at hand here. Politics aside for a moment if possible, this is a journey for people who seek a better future for themselves.Of course some would say and argue they don't deserve that and we'd be right back to square one. So while I said politics aside, it's almost impossible to watch this and not having an opinion on it. Whether you think the people crossing the border are doing the right thing or the guy not letting them off the hook so easy is the one who's right, do not forget: We're talking human beings here. And while this is a fictional movie, there is some real life based idea behind this. Which makes it somewhat hard to watch if you think too much about it.But as a movie it works. The characters are believable enough and the suspension is high as it should be ...
Lee Eisenberg To the pantheon of movies about immigrants we can add Jonás Cuarón's "Desierto". It focuses on a group of migrant workers who cross from Mexico to the United States only to become the targets of a racist vigilante. I suspect that this happens a lot. These vigilantes must have no life if they spend their days shooting people. The important thing to remember is that people coming from Latin America are fleeing horrible conditions (Gregory Nava's movie "El Norte" dealt with this). The movie depicts the trip across the desert as one harrowing experience. It's one of those movies that everyone should see. We might hear stories of people trying to cross the US-Mexico border, but people who don't attempt it have no idea what it's like. And believe me, Trump's proposed wall - increasingly looking unlikely - would have no effect; people would find a way around it.Definitely see this movie.
adonis98-743-186503 A group of people trying to cross the border from Mexico into the United States encounter a man who has taken border patrol duties into his own racist hands. Although the film started actually pretty strong and it was at least watchable for the first 2 acts but when the 3rd act came along the movie just became a tired mess that even Jeffrey Dean Morgan couldn't save it and sure the movie might get a bit political for some but honestly i didn't found any of those people interesting or even had a good character development when the character of Morgan was at least a bit enjoyable and fun to watch but that is the problem with the actual 3rd act because they turned his character into some weak jackass and even the dog turned into a bad cgi balloon. Overall the film had it's good moments for sure but the poorly developed characters and the badly made 3rd act completely ruined the movie. (5.7/10)
