Aubrey Hackett While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Reno Rangan One of the recent Disney Channel Original Movie starring Dave Cameron. Surely I decided to watch it after seeing her in 'Descendants'. An okay film. There's nothing special in the story. It was the same old, same old sports film. Like, a girl who loves snowboarding loses her spot in the team and the boyfriend at the same time. Now she trains hard to prove them all wrong. Would she achieve successfully what she has undertaken is the remaining part of the story that ends with a major snowboarding competition.As usual, a good film for the television audience and particularly the kids. It is a kind of inspiration, but full of predictable. At least I have learnt a few stuff about snowboarding, yet I felt it should have done a lot more with that platform. The other sub-plot like dogs were not bad. So overall the narration looked decent, until the end. If someone says the film is bad, that could be because of the way it was concluded. Too plain, but it always works for a production like Disney's. You can watch it, though, remember there are many fine DCOM that you can try than this.6/10
thenekassyni Typical Disney movie trying to bank and promote an upcoming child star. As with all Disney stuff this is meant for the rich people out there. You have the nice clothes and settings. The movie was alright for what is it and again being a Disney movie after all. I have to say the production value appears to be above average though.I didn't even get through the movie as every scene with Dove shows off her bright red and puffy lips. Now I find some people like this and I guess it is done to sexualize her but did we have to make it so big? If you google her and look at the photos she doesn't have the puffy lips. The problem with this is, of course, whenever she talks it appears unnatural. To me, it is gross. The close up gives me shivers. Reminds me of that one girl in the Transformers movie that had such a bad pair of puffy lips I cringed everything she was on screen.
Retroman40 That was the question I starting asking myself shortly into the running of the movie. Well of course we have! Still, I enjoyed the movie and think most people who are DCOM fans would like it too.This movie follows the very successful Disney Channel Original Movie formula. The characters are as predictable as the ending. But seriously, this is a DCOM and the hero will always prevail at the end.One thing Disney seems to have is a never ending group of fine young actors that they are constantly testing to find their "next big star". I really like a lot of the current crop including Dove Cameron and Luke Benward (although my current favorite is Olivia Holt who could have played the role if they didn't have her in multiple shows already). Dove Cameron reminds me a little of Reese Witherspoon in the Legally Blonde movies (which isn't a bad thing) and Luke Benward has that slightly edgy charm. Sadly there wasn't really that much chemistry between the stars; it was more like they were tolerating each other on screen.The story had potential to be better, but there was minimal character development. Since you knew how it was going to end, you didn't really get to feel what the characters were going through. Even at the final showdown everything was totally predictable. But so what? It is a DCOM.In spite of the shortcomings I genuinely enjoyed the movie. The action scenes are very well filmed and the scenery in Utah was beautiful. The stunt team was outstanding for sure. The movie doesn't get bogged down anywhere and the story keeps moving. Yes, the ending is cliché but did you honestly expect different?I'm sure the timing of this movie had something to do with the Olympics since snowboarding doesn't get a lot of mainstream coverage except in Olympic years.Set the DVR and enjoy a fast paced breezy movie that doesn't require much thought.
