Grimerlana Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike
Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
peacepaint-40666 This movie was an absolute sh*t-show, so much so that it was actually laughable. I laughed AT this movie... key word "at". The script and plot are stupid and the the acting didn't help the already poor situation. I was appalled at the portrayal or Trinidad... absolutely ridiculous and inaccurate and quite blatantly rude to the people who live there. And what was up with their accent?? That was not Trinidadian. The writers must be some ignorant people because they completely discredited the country and did no research at all to back this movie. Also did I mention the absolute horrendous script and plot??? Please do not watch this. Or do if u want a chuckle and a waste of time... to be clear this is not a funny film, it was laughable because of how absurd and wrong and terrible the whole thing was... Who wrote this? Because (insert name of person who wrote this)'s career is over.
Kirpianuscus in the role of dr. Christiansen. this is one of the pillars of the film. then, the bodies of two Australian teenagers losted out of civilisation, different one by other, becoming parts of a seductive love story. and, sure, the end. risky but useful for save a teenager story who could be a large collection of clichés and stereotypes. so, a nice film. easy to criticize, not bad for the mixture of classic themes. and for the tricks. because it has the nice idea to conquest different categories of public. the nostalgic of The Blue Lagoon from 1980 for the presence in the cast of Christopher Atkins. the admirers of the sequel from 1991 for the beautiful new level of story. but the target remains the Facebook generation. and this is the motif to not ignore a film who reflects the spirit of a circle of young people who defines his identity step by step.
SentinelPrime Okay, I am a little bit embarrassed to be reviewing this film, but I read some other reviews, and I wanted to point out some elements I noticed.I caught this movie by accident one morning when I happened to have a day off. I was just flipping channels when it came on. When I saw what it was, I decided to leave it on while I did other things. What surprised me about the film was the arc for Indiana Evans' character, Emma. While much of the movie was silly, the dialog between the two leads seemed honest in the context of the story and the characters. They actually talked to and got to know one another. Also, unusual for a Lifetime movie, Emma actually takes joy and pleasure in her own sexuality. That the character (not the actor) is a teenager makes for a slightly subversive moment in an otherwise formulaic film.Emma is also the one who misunderstands Dean when they return home, which is nice, as often men are portrayed as misinterpreting signals, and instead Emma misunderstands Dean. Emma and her sister also have a great moment that passes the Bechtel test, in that they do not talk about the men in their lives, but each other. The movie has problems, but the acting is not one of them. I think the two leads are quite good with the material, and they make their characters work despite some obvious holes in the plot. The movie's island scenes were also beautifully filmed. The eponymous lagoon is particularly lovely. Not a spectacular film, but it had a few surprises.
rivertam26 Unlike the majority of people I have seen and am fans of the Blue Lagoon films not the one from the 40's but the 70s' and 90's versions I grew up on. I can admit that they qualify as guilty pleasures and there is an undeniable idicoy to them. But that's the point they are supposed to be about children maturing in the wild with no adult supervision by themselves. The maturing of their bodies as well as their minds. I hate to break it those who hate the films but people in this age group usually aren't very smart so it would be unrealistic to approach the material from a more intellectual angle per say. And with this lifetime movie entry they do manage to take the concept in a new direction even though its looses some of the effect that made the other films work so to speak. Two teens on hs trip to Trinidad (lol) fall off a party boat and end up stranded on a desert island where they try and survive and end up discovering each other lol. What makes some difference in this film is that the movie starts off with their hs lives and we are introduced to the characters briefly and than yada yada yada goes down and than interestingly enough things move at a slightly different pace on the island. Just because they are already slightly mature and move into things differently. (spoiler) And than interestingly enough they are rescued and their lives are explored after the incident. The finale is a little forced and the two attractive youths don't have much chemistry but they spit dialogue well enough. it's good that the film is a more mature take on the material and than in itself is the fresh however in doing that it looses its innocence which i guess would be the whole point of the concept. Making the film not as engaging but entertaining enough to make for a TV viewing.
