marstonsneddon Black Death (2010) is a grim tale full of compelling performances, beautifully dark scenery, character depth, and most of all, plenty of atmosphere. This movie, directed by Christopher Smith, is a key example of how to build atmosphere and tension in a film. It also shows how easily we assume the roles of each character in a movie. Black Death is a tense, dark, atmospheric historical work of fiction that accurately depicts the feeling of the plague. From the moment the movie starts, our eyes are seared with the images of corpses, the musty smell of death, and the toll that the plague made upon this country. The acting is very well done, especially by Eddie Redmayne, the young confused monk, and Caprice Van Houten, who brings an eerie feel into a normally peaceful village. Sean Bean, as always, is amazing, and I found this film to be his best performance. The action sequences are well-shot, and the cinematography is astounding. The locations that the characters visit fit the environment, and the mood of the film. But what really makes this film, as I have stated earlier, is the feeling and the atmosphere of the village that our characters seek. To avoid any spoilers, it is not what it seems, but at the same time it is. This is a dark and somewhat depressing film, but I believed that's exactly what the director intended. A film about a sickness that decimated many countries is not going to be one with a happy ending. Needless to say, this film worked very well, and I cannot give it enough praise. This is a movie that does not hand you the correct answers to very difficult questions. This is a movie that has you question who is right and who is wrong. This is the Black Death. I give this movie a solid 9.1 out of 10. A must watch.Thanks for reading my review! This was my first review, so sorry if it was a bit hard to follow.

cineastFGD What an utterly useless and boring movie this is. It is basically 90 minutes of blatant disgust, brutality, and violence without any sense and meaning. The plot is paper thin, the characters basically non- existent. The ending is as boring and depressing as the rest of the movie. Save your time and money and spend it on something more worthy than this rubbish. Could see that the movie got state funding, yet another questionable investment of tax payers' money into a 'cultural' project. Eddy Redmayne was the only glimpse of light in this terrible assembly. His performance outshone every other. But there are surely better movies to watch him in. This film is just awful.

The story has since been retold by many authors.In Ovidian tale, Pyramus and Thisbe are two young lovers, unable to stay together for social issues, however the power of love makes they plan an escape to live together the rest of their lives. Thisbe planned with Pyramus that they would flee to a distant monument far from the city, Into the woods, called Ninu's Tomb, and there they would wait for the other and than flee together. Thisbe was the first to get there, and she was waiting for Pyramus until she saw a lioness with a bloody mouth, scared, she ran into a cave to hide, and on the trail dropped her veil. The lioness seeing the veil on the ground, laid with its mouth bloodied on it, smearing the veil with blood of a prey. Pyramus when reached the Ninu's Tomb moments later, didn't found Thisbe, but saw the footprints of the lioness and the bloody veil of Thisbe on the ground.
