Synopsis

The Bell Witch Haunting" is a powerful supernatural historic thriller based on terrifying actual events that took place in Robertson County, Tennessee from 1817 to 1821, in which a spirit tormented John Bell and his family, leaving him in a terrifying fight against the vengeful ghost to save his children and his own life. The haunting is the only known case where a spirit actually took credit for killing someone. After visiting the Bells home, Andrew Jackson said, "I vow I would rather fight the entire British Army single handed then face this witch again." Written by Ric White

Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
HeadlinesExotic Boring
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
saundrah1 I love ghost stories and I will sit through a movie til it's end, even if I'm not really enjoying it. I rarely feel like I wasted my time... BUT, this adaptation of the Bell Witch story was horrible! It wasn't scary in the least bit. What is with the comic relief moments? The dialog was tedious. Acting inconsistent The movie was WAY too long and some scenes were unnecessarily drawn out in my open. (Like the birthday party)The only good think I can think about mentioning is the costumes and props were well done.I am curious about other adaptation, but until then, I will stick to reading about the story.
skb19681987 I walked into a book store in Brentwood, Tennessee. I am not going to say the name because I am a dedicated customer. I have been satisfied with every item I purchased there before this one. On display in the front of the store was The Bell Witch Haunting. (Might I mention this is the only store I have seen it for sale in.) I had heard about the story somewhere and remembered it was supposed to have really happened for real. I was very excited and couldn't wait to watch it. I had great expectations for it. I couldn't believe what I seen when I viewed it. It didn't look like a real movie. It looked like a home video. I was under the impression it was suppose to be a horror movie. I mean the movie was suppose to be about a witch haunting you know. This is no horror movie. You will not jump out of your seat watching this movie. I gave the movie all the chances in the world to get better as it went along. I swear I did. It never did get any better. There were several scenes of this little kid getting poop and pee thrown on him. I didn't find that entertaining at all. I watched the whole movie with disbelief that the store would actually sell this to me. I guess that is how bad this economy has got. I have this to say to the cast and crew. Do not show this film as material to get other film jobs. Don't do it. I mean that sincerely. I commend you for trying. For people who have bought this. I say this. Don't sell your copy to someone. They could get very upset. Have a nice day everyone.
mail-1772 I had read several articles and a book about the Bell Witch and was skeptical about the movie as these movies dramatizations are always so fictional and made completely "out there". What a pleasant surprise to find a film that was not only free of exaggeration but told such an accurate recounting that you felt you were there. The cast made the family real and the voice-over filled the gaps so that if the viewer to this film were new to the tale he wouldn't be lost. As an aside, I would also comment that the extra features were spectacular and genuinely added to the experience. Thanks to the cast and filmmakers for telling this story!
lavinia1905 My husband picked up this copy by mistake. We had been hearing about the production Bell Witch: The Movie 2004 directed by Shane Marr starring Betsy Palmer who played Jason Voorhees mother in Friday the 13th and who has a good background in films. He came home and gave it to me. When I looked at it I knew it wasn't the right one because of the credits. Well, being a fan of the Bell Witch legend I watched it anyway. It was terrible. I wouldn't tell anyone to watch it. I looked on the listing Bell Witch: The Movie 2004 comments on Internet Movie Data Base Directed by Shane Marr to see if anyone had left any info on that film. When I got there I saw no comments. I seen several messages on the message board. To tell you how terrible this movie is. The people who are proclaiming it's greatness on this listing Bell Witch Haunting 2004 are promoting it on the other movie site the version directed by Shane Marr. And leaving phone numbers to sell it. Look at the message board and it's contents see for yourself. My opinion is this movie doesn't have a leg to stand on. I haven't been able to find the Shane Marr copy to see it. I hope it is better than this one.
