TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Candida It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
SnoopyStyle Morgan Freeman plays an out-of-touch famous actor doing a little research in a grocery store for an upcoming role. He's fascinated with the angry cashier girl Scarlet (Paz Vega). She's stuck at the 10 Items or Less lane and she hates it. He can't remember the P.A.'s phone number and Scarlet reluctantly drives him. He's overly inquisitive and she's got an interview for a secretarial job.I love these two amiable actors. The plot isn't much of anything. This movie is all about the actors and the characters. I don't really feel much about Freeman's character. He's a Hollywood construct of a Hollywood stereotype. I wish he is more natural and I can't buy Freeman in this role. I wish their relationship is more compelling and more substantive. Paz Vega is great as an angry spitfire and touching. Although I don't know what she's auditioning for dressed like that.
Yudhistir Saxena This Movie should have ended in 10 minutes or Less , There is nothing worth your attention here , I watched it for Paz Vega and Morgan Freeman but literally there is nothing to the story , A runtime of 1 hour and 16 minutes is just a 10 minute conversation stretched , the conversation that the two characters have on 10 items or less , that pretty much about it , moving a camera behind two walking characters is not screenplay , the movie didn't had a body or conclusion , it only had an Introduction , it was just a narrative rather than immersive experience , it never draws you in , you are just left wondering what is the sole purpose of the movie and by the time it comes on track its already over , wonder why they made the movie in the first place
sddavis63 I have to admit that for the first half hour or so of this movie I was basically lost. There had been some mildly amusing humour, but at best a barebones plot and a general sense of pointlessness that was on the verge of making me think that I was wasting my time. Then - for no apparent reason - I suddenly realized that I was enjoying this. There was no blinding moment of realization and no suddenly dramatic scene that grabbed me. In fact nothing very exciting happens in the entire movie. It was as if I just all of a sudden realized that the movie was meant to be largely pointless - and that in its very pointlessness was its charm.Morgan Freeman starred as an unnamed actor who finds a “little project” to jumpstart his career. He's going to play a supermarket manager, and spends the day in a neighbourhood supermarket to research the role. While there he meets and bonds with Scarlet (played by Paz Vega) - a cashier who wants more out of life. He helps her prepare for a job interview as if she's auditioning for a role, while she introduces him to real life. It's truly funny watching “him” (for that's how the character is identified in the credits) be overwhelmed by a visit to the local Target store.Freeman and Vega were great together, with a strange but completely believable sort of combined romantic but father-daughter chemistry. If you feel lost at the beginning, stick with this. In the end, it turns out to be a delightfully charming movie. 7/10
long-ford '10 Items or Less' is an interesting drama that tries a bit too hard to be quirky. The comedic elements are weak and the film would have worked much better as a straight drama. Morgan Freeman has fun with his role as an actor who meets a struggling grocery clerk (Paz Vega) while trying to prepare for a role. The plot is predictable with some obvious life lessons being learned. Yet the two actors play well off each other. Some of the lines come across as a bit too cute and the film feels slightly padded. Still it's watchable specially at home on television or DVD.Overall 6/10
